we bought this car without asking what code they used.
The battery is corroded and needs to be cleaned.
If I unhook it will the radio become locked?
If so is there a work around?
Cheers

On cars I wish to unhook battery and I'm not sure about, and I want to save radio info and avoid theft codes... I use a "memory saver" I made out of a cigarette lighter plug and a 9 volt battery. Just attched battery to plug and plug into cigarette lighter- this backfeeds 9v to car's system and keeps all memories alive- but does not cause an arcing concern of loose cables underhood. You can also buy these memory savers online, or at a local parts house.
From what I read, yours is one of those that needs a code, if the theft light is activated (red light is on- or flashing)

I've disconnected the battery on my 99 Malibu LS for up to 30 minutes, with no radio problem. Maybe you have a security system I don't?
