No need to replace timing belt on the 4 cylinder model. The 6 does have one.

So the 4 cylinder engine has a timing chain and the 6 cylinder engine has a timing belt. I wonder why.
So does the timing chain need to be replaced or is it good for the life of the car. Could the chain handle 200,000 miles on it?

sometimes you can hear the chain hitting the timing chain cover or if it just dies wont start you'll know it wont have kno compresion meaning turning over fast.

Sometimes the timing chain tensioner will have an issue. But the chain very rarely has a problem itself.
Change your oil and filter every 3000 to 4000 miles.
I like Castrol GTX 5/30. (10/40 for the Celica now)
My Celica has 256,000 original miles with no major overhaul.
Still on the original timing chain and tensioner.
