2000 Prism need engine help

Hello, My son fried his motor in his 2000 Prism. I took it out and installed another one. It starts but wont idle ,backfires through the exhaust and if left running long enough the exhaust gets cherry red. I have installed a new OEM O2 sensor(upstream) and spark plugs. I changed all the sensors from the old engine. The only code I get is random backfires on all cylinders at different times. I talked to another guy on another site and he said his Prism did the same thing and that he changed around two hoses coming off the drivers side of the fuel rail. The only hose coming off my fuel rail is the fuel line coming in.Did anyone on this site have this problem? I do not have a hanes book for this car and do not know if one is available. Can any of you guys tell me if there are hoses coming off of your fuel rail? does anyone have a picture of all the hose locations. I really need to get this car fixed and I am begging for help!
