Worrying About My cutlass 1987 Oldsmobile 3.8L

Hi guys today i was thinking about my trans is going shot it runs perfectly but this morning when i got up this morning to help jump a neighbors vehicle i didnt let it run like so so i put it in gear and moved taward her car and it took alittle high rev to move the car as if it wasn't kicking into gear after i threw it in park and put the jumper cables on her post and gave her a jump then moved my car back it worked fine

My question is its cause i didn't let it warm up properly? and its cold out
