I was driving into work today in the rain and everything was running normal at about 55MPH the truck started to hesitate and then started jerking. All of the dashboard indicator lights came on the gauges all cycled through then went back to normal but the Check Engine and ABS lights stayed on. This happened twice in about a 5 mile stretch and after I parked at work I shut it off and then restarted and all the lights were off. I drove the truck at lunch and didn't notice any problems. Any ideas on what could have caused this?

maybe something just got too wet, like a wheel/speed sensor, and shorted out for a sec.

Sounds like it could be ignition switch problem, 1997 was especially bad. What year is the vehicle?

The truck is a 98 with 115000 miles on it. I didn't even think of the ignition switch. I will take a look at that when I get home tonight.

The ignition switch feeds several different circuits through several different sets of contacts inside the switch. If any one or more of the contacts have a poor connection, devices on the circuit will not get battery voltage and cause seemingly unrelated, erratic, electrical problems. It can be tricky to diagnose without the problem being present when you're testing the circuits. It's not 100% conclussive, but here's something you can try: with the engine at idle, turn on some accessories: radio, wipers, HVAC blower, turn signal, headlamps, etc. Then, very slowly and gently turn, push, pull, wiggle, the ignition switch toward the off position and see if you can duplicate the condition. Good luck ;)
