Hi, doing a timing belt and water pump on a 2000 Eclipse 3.0, naturally aspirated, and the rear bank camshaft seal is leaking. I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can replace the seal without removing the valve cover/camshaft. It looks like if I can get the gear off, I should be able to snag the seal out and pound in a new one. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks a ton.

Sorry, was in a hurry and didn't scroll down far enough to see it was partitioned off.

You can. I had to improvise a gear holder in order to loosen the bolt holding the cam gear on, but after that it was just popping the old seal out and a new one in.
