I've pulled and tugged and looked all over but can't figure how to pull back seat out. What am I missing?

what do you mean 'pull the back seat out' - you mean disconnect it? Or lower the seat backs? Or what?

put your key in the key slot on the platform above/behind the seats. turn the key til you hear it unlock. then pull up your rear DRIVER SIDE seat. i had the same problem, i was pulling on the wrong seat...

I got the top part ok, I need to pull out the part you plant your butt on. other cars took a push/pull, just lifted out , or had a couple of plainly visible fasteners. this one I can't figure out.

well in most hondas ive taken the seats out of, you fold down the backs, unbolt the pivot mount form back of seat, then in the back of the bottom you take out one little bolt and then the botom pivots up towards the front of the car and then lifts straight out.
dont know about 2k1 civics tho.

The seat cushion (what your butt sits on) off the center is a bolt that holds the seat down the frame of the car. If you are facing the trunk it's a little bit to the right. Stick your hand between the back and the seat cushion and feel for it.
