HELP!!
I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota 4.7 liter V8 with 93,000 miles. If I drive very slow such as in a back up of traffic, I get a clunking sound when the transmission shifts between first and second gear. If is very pronounced when it down shifts from third to second gear at a slow speed. If I apply liberal acceleration to the truck, it shifts just fine. It downshifts just find also unless I'm moving at a very slow speed. If I am going abour 10 miles an hour and take my foot off the gas it clunks down into 1 or second gear.
Can anyone tell me if it is the transmission or rear end. Do the bands need adjusting? I really would like to keep this truck but may have to sell if I can't get rid of this issue.
