2000 4WD, Jimmy, 4DR, 90K miles.
Hello all,
Crazy things. When driving on the expressway the drivers window will not go up all the way. It stops about an 1inch from the closed position. I could not believe this when my wife said this happens all the time. It works just fine when stopped. My fix was to stop opening the window when on the expressway. I have been working on cars for 30 years and this is new to me.
thx

Check your window motor. By that I mean replace it and see if the new one does the same thing. If it does you need to backtrack up to the relay switch and see if there is a problem there. Use an ohm meter to check for current running out from the relay switch and check it while revving the motor to simulate highway speed. Let us know the results.

I will give you additional info regarding if the motor is bad. I watched here power the window down and back up several times and it stops 1 inch from full up position. So the motor is working, maybe something is in the mechanism stopping this but as soon as she stops it goes fully up. She said sometimes if she slows down it is enough for the window to go up.

Your vehicle has the "express down" feature on the driver side. There is a circuit breaker in the window switch. When amperage draw is excessive, ie when the window is fully down, the breaker pops to protect the motor from overheating. After the breaker cools, it resets itself and the switch will operate the motor again. If the glass is binding in the track, or the window regulator is binding, it can cause the breaker to pop. Hope this helps.
