Hello first post, nice site

Have 99 Park Ave, water in oil washed out bearings, rod knock, got it shut down in time to save things, oil pressure was 23lb, I know motor is trashed 3.8 vin (K) 200k body very nice.

My question: Shopping online for a used motor, even if I get Vin from supplier what on the engine corresponds to this in order to know if it actually came from said vehicle?, or is there another way to tell? Without some way to verify seems Im left to trust. Looking for low mileage motor complete 20-30k interested in trans also if price is correct. Any help would be much appreciated.

Any K engine should work from a 99 is it your worry that they will sell you the wrong year, if so ask what the vin is to verify the year.

Thanks for responding, but no, the years that will work from what Info I have to date is 99-05. What I was concerned with is, although I can check Vin it really tells me only the info about that car if it was serviced at a garage that reports then how do I know if the engine is even from this car. Is there any way to verify block to vin or any other way.Seems the more I ask around nobody knows for sure.
