Hey everyone, My newley used toyota is treating me great so far. Excellent gas mileage 400 miles to a tank. So I'm trying to maintain it the best I can. Changed all fluids except differential. I noticed that when I turn the right side is clicking. No I assume it is the cv joint. If it is I can change it myself but I noticed a bracket that has a bearing on it and its bolted to the engine. Is this a pain to remove???

It is a hugh PITA to remove. Especially now that your car is 15 model years old and you are in a rust belt state. When I had to have that passenger cv joint/axle replaced on my 94, I decided to leave the job to a professional. I watched as he broke an air chisel bit trying to break that bearing loose. He eventually got it out after repeated attempts with the thorch and air chisel. I was glad to pay the money not to half to do this job myself.

Yes, a huge PITA. I did it and I hope I never have to do it again. I had to destroy the motor mount which wasn't a problem for me because that is what I was replacing. If I had to do just the half-axle, I would probably spend the extra bucks and do the mount at the same time. $150 for a new mount would be better than the work required to remove the axle without damaging the mount.
The mount has locating pins which prevent it from dropping down when you remove the bolts which hold it against the engine. Yes, a HUGE PITA!!!!
