90 Lumina 3.1 - Where does your temp guage stay?

my guages all seem to be reading high.
Where does your temp guage stay at during normal operation?
Mine stays around 3/4 the way up (220 deg) after its warmed up completely.
Previous owner jumpered the fan relay to be on constantly due to they guage consistantly reading high but im afriad to unhook the jumper untill im sure im not overheating. Ive let it get in the red before with no ill effects but fan didnt come on. guage starts off at about half way or little less when its cold.
