Possible Oilpan Leak 1992 Deville 4.9L

Hi, I recently bought a 1992 Sedan Deville with the 4.9l v8. I am leaking 2 qts a month of oil. Could someone tell me the extent of a oilpan gasket change as well as if this is the common location for an oilleak with this car?

May not be the o/p clean it up and check, sometimes the split block itself can leak.

Are you sure it's the oil pan? The water pump backing plate is a common leak as are the oil cooler o-rings. I'd check from the top on down to see exactly what is leaking. Clean the engine first, or use one of the oil dye kits. It'll save you some time and money if the oil pan gasket isn't the one leaking!

That's why DIY is best, no stripped drain plugs, shorted oil, too much oil, and
wrong viscosity.

Well, that's why I asked you if you were sure that it WAS the oil pan that was leaking! It pays to check to see EXACTLY what is leaking, before tearing the engine apart replacing gaskets.
With everything automotive, check the small things first! Glad it was an easy fix!
