Hello guys,

The Corvette ZR1 is finished, so I need a new project beside the Ferrari 360 Modena.

I picked up this Fujimi Golf V GTI a few years ago, just when it was released, but I waited to build it. Now it's time to do it, cause I have more of these kits :D

Here are some old pics I made a few years ago.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_020.jpg

To make the model more nice, I bought some stuff for it. First some RS4 wheels by ScaleProduction:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/golf_plans_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Also a pe set by CrazyModeler will be used:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/golf_plans_%283%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/golf_plans_%284%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

It needs to be slammed of course!

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/golf_plans_%286%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/golf_plans_%287%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

I'm thinking about Ipanema Brown by Audi for this model:

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/7660/13brownr8sdetroit.jpg

I'll start with the chassis first, as I want to finish the lowering before I start with the body.

It already looks mean, although i would've picked a different color. But it still should be a stunning model. Kris you have to slow down and let us other modelers build some models. Your too fast, and you have improved drastically building within the last two years. Keep it up. If only i had the time you have to build!!

Good luck and keep us posted.

First update.

I did some putty work to achieve a 'clean' look. The frontbumper and grill part are filled with putty:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/putty_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Also the antenna hole was filled with putty:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/putty_%282%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

And last but not least I filled up the hole in the rearbumper and the parksensor holes.

Nice!

But I always do otherwise... I don't use putty to fill holes because when dries, it has proclivity to shrink. So I put rodes into holes (made from a spure warm up over the cooker) using CA glue :)

That's a better solution yes :) Thanks I'll use that in future builds for sure!

Meanwhile I did some little work on this one again. First I smoothed the body a bit more. Some areas where not that smooth. Now it's smooth enough I hope. I also glued the frontlip on the frontbumper cause it will be in bodycolor also.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/bodywork_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/bodywork_%285%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/bodywork_%288%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Removing the plastic mesh from the frontgrille was very hard to do. When I finally removed all plastic I ended up with a grille broken in 9 pieces. I glued them together and did it another few times untill it got the original shape back again :D Now the PE part could be placed and it looks much more better than the thick ugly plastic mesh. Off course it's not finished yet, I have to smoothen it a bit more and I also must add another PE trim on the grille which must be painted red.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/bodywork_%289%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

And a dryfit with the grille:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/bodywork_%2811%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Meanwhile I'm busy with the chassis to fit the new wheels and make it a bit lower for a better look. I also started on the dashboard which needs some work to fit the PE parts.

Stay tuned to the next update.

Kris.

Man, very nice work so far...

Incredibly, but I just started a similar project, not the same color, but very close: macadamia brown.

Besides pictures as follow, I will go with Pegasus BBS 20" and not Fujimi BBS 20"

Tell me something: did you modified the inner fenders?

I already did that (pictures below) and all suspension work as well (pictures tonigh when I get back to home)

Well last weekend I had a 24 hours build, and I really enjoyed it cause I have done so much on this model :)

First I did some polishing on the paint. No sandingpads but only some rubbing compounds and waxes.

The shine is OK to me, so I hurried up to mask off the body and painted the windowtrims semigloss black.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%282%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%283%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

And because I had the black paint in my airbrush, I also painted the windows in black.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%284%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%285%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

The frontbumper received the carbon center and I added the PE mesh parts.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%286%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%287%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

And I wanted to make the frontlights in black, so I searched some tuning lights and replicated them.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%288%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

I love this look:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%289%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%2810%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Now it was time for the wheels..... I painted them Copper using Alclad paints. I finished the wheels with some metal VW transfers from Crazy Modeler and a drup of clearcoat.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%2811%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%2812%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Another dryfit:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%2814%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_%2815%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

I also painted the exhaust with alclad paints. Steel on the exhaust and titanium gold on the catalysator and middle.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/uitlaat_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/uitlaat_%282%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG

Moving on to the interior. I wanted to paint it with a light shade of brown. I used Vallejo Air Sand Yellow as main color. The interior trims are painted chrome silver metalizer and I painted some parts black.

On the doorpanels I added PE speakergrilles and made some seatbelts from left over PE parts.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur__%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

The frontseats are simple but I added a GTI logo from PE. It was a nightmare to paint them after more than 24 hours no sleeping.... :D

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur__%282%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

The floor and thrunk are painted black and I added some black interiorflocking. The midconsole is painted semigloss black and some chrome paint.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur__%284%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

The dashboard got some PE ventilatorgrilles, pedals and a radioface. On the steering wheel I added a PE gti logo and I added a metal transfer vw logo.

Finally I can do a new update.

I did some work on the chassis to lower the rideheight. It was not that easy so I took me a couple days to get the look I wanted. I also glued the PE brakes together and fitted them on the wheels. Sorry no pics of that.... :(

Now the lowering was done, I could build up the whole chassis together. First I added some sigaretfoil on the exhaustarea. I also sprayed some smoke paint on it.

The exhausttips are dechromed and painted Polished Aluminium using Alclad paint.

The body needed some rearlights, so I painted them clear red.

The front needed a grille, but this one didn't fit well. I used some heavy force to fit it right. Next step was to add the red trim which was also a nightmare to glue....
Now this was also done, I could glue the bumper on the body and glue the lights in place.

Meanwhile I added the windows but somehow the really don't fit well. I use some heavy glue clamps to fit, so we'll see how it turns out..... :)
