My explorer had a freeze plug fall out this winter. I am wondering what are the chances that the block is cracked? I have not seen any visible crack around the freeze plug hole. I have also been having a problem with it overheating. The water pump seems to be fine. and the radiator seems to be fine. I replaced the thermostat and the hoses, but there is still a leak.

I assume you are saying the freeze plug is still leaking. I would try one of those rubber expansion plugs where you just insert it and tighten the center bolt.

I replaced the plug and my fear was confirmed. It blew a head gasket. We are totaling the the truck out.

Try some http://www.steelseal.com , or Blue Devil to rule out any water leaks!

It can't hurt, if the coolant didn't have enough freeze protection, the leak could be the block, head, head gaskets radiator, heater core, and more freeze plugs.
