I washed the hatch today, here are some pics.
I started to clean under the hood a few weeks ago, it's still a work in progress.

if u wanna save a hell of a lot of time, pay the $5 and pick up some engine degreaser, it loosens up all the grime...works good!

I picked up a bottle of Simple Green for the job. I didn't use too much of it though cause I was afraid to get it on the engine and shit. Next time I'm going to cover the engine etc with a tarp and then have full fledged go at the underside of the hood.

ok smart guy
1.simple green wont hurt the engine, thats what people use to clean it
2. why not just take off those 4 little bolts and take off your hood and clean it that way.....it'll be much easier

it's not really easier that way. once again i'll give you 3 reasons why
1.a hood is heavy, needs 2 people(usually) to get it off.
2.you need 2 people to get back on (if you try it yourself it'll be hard, and by so doin this defeating the purpose of doin it easy).
3. his way is easier.

WTF?! Dude, a hood is like 25lbs at the most.. If you can't lift that yourself, call your girlfriend over to do it..
And if you can't put it on yourself you're just dumb.. Removing the hood is like the easiest thing you can do.

ok well maybe it's not HEAVY but the last person i saw try to put a hood on himself ended up scratching atlot of paint off and denting a lot of shit. and yes takin off a hood to clean the underside of it is harder than thowin a tarp over the engine and cleanin it.

Nah I'm not pulling the hood off. I'm content with doing little by little. If it takes me until August to clean it big deal, I'm in no rush.

solution
1. dad can you come help me for 5 minutes
2. mom can you come help me for 5 minutes
its so simple you guys act like its hard, and by the time you get another spot cleaned the spot you cleaned will be dirty and youll have to clean it again.....if you take the hood off lay it flat on something with a towel or blanket of some sort on it and do it all at once it will be easier and faster
but the last person i saw try to put a hood on himself ended up scratching atlot of paint off and denting a lot of shit then that guy is a dumbass

it's still easier none the less to just cover up the engine, that all i'm sayin. since i like numbers so much i will show you with them...
your way...
1. pop hood.
2.undo bolts.
3.take off hood.
4.clean hood
5.put hood on.
6.make sure it's aligned right, should already be that way.
7.bolt up.
8.close hood
9.be happy you wasted time, but prolly made people think you were doin something cool to your car cause the hood was off.
his way..
1.pop hood
2.cover engine
3.clean hood
4.take off cover
5.close hood
6.be happy you just did something in 3/4 less time than someone else.
btw i'm just havin fun and playin around, i'm not serious and i hope ya'll aren't gettin mad.:D

Check out the detailing section...
Simple Green will NOT hurt your engine. But you would probably want to cover your air-filter with a plastic bag, and possibly your distributor as well... But the process outlined in this guys web-site works great. The only thing I did that wasn't mentioned in the how-to was to use a wire brush to help loosen alot of the caked-on gunk.

screw you guys who are makin fun of him for not wanting to take his hood off ... sure its easy to get it off, but getting it back on is the hard part ... I know, I had to replace the hood on my MG and I ended up putting it on slightly askew so it rubbed and took some of the paint off this one area before I could readjust it.

I'd like to tint the windows and get an alarm but that's about it. Maybe an integra console. I've already spent a bunch of money repairing stuff so... :)

Well I cleaned the underside of the hood this weekend.

I took 4-5 garbage bags and covered the engine bay. Sprayed the hell out of the hood with simple green and let it sit for a few mins and then used the scrub brush and the hose. It came off a lot easier than I thought.

I used to run a detail shop and we put varsol and heavy heavy duty degreaser on the engines and let them sit for about 10 minutes and it has never hurt anything!
