Hi,
I received an update yesterday from Automotive Forums indicating that I need to replace my Crankcase Oil Filter. What is a Crankcase Oil Filter and how do I replace this part?
2001 Pontiac Prix GT 3.8 (150,000 miles)
Thanks

Just your regular oil filter.

Why don't you get it done during the oil change?
Is it Leaking?
Some people will only change an oil filter every 3k-5k miles when using synthetic oil like AMS, or Moble 1.

What!
I change my dino oil every 3K-5K miles to include oil filter depending on the brand and driving conditions. On regular not extended Mobil 1 synthetic 5K intervals regardless and the oil filter.
The key to long engine life is proper maintenance per the manufacturer and not what some morons do.

A 5.00 filter every 3000 miles is a cheap way to maintain your motor. Just go without McDonkey's for lunch one day and buy a filter instead. Most of us could stand to lose a few anyways. Myself included.

I wouldn't replaced my gas tank, or gas, because of a dirty fuel filter.
I prefer togo to newer stations with new pumps + tanks!

Rule of thumb, if you change the oil, change the filter.
I've never heard of anyone replacing the filter without changing the oil. That would be like pulling out your oil dipstick, seeing clean oil, and still changing the oil filter.
Mikeso_81, see what you have started???? LOL!!! :P

You are comparing apples to oranges. :shakehead There are no moving parts that need lubrication like in an engine.
You can do as you please but please do not give bad, non-contributory advice at this forum. :nono:

This Thread didn't make sense unless oil filter was leaking.

The crank case filter is the filtered air inlet for the pcv system, in this case it should be the normal air filter. I think thats what was meant.
