HELLO. My 06 GT's battery is in the 5th year of It's 7 yr. warranty. I have not had any trouble starting the GT this winter even though the cranking seems to be some what slower. The GT sits out in an unheated garage during the really cold weather. + I do not drive it as much when the weather is really nasty. I try to keep the salt etc. off of her as much as possible. Since my truck battery is 7+ years old I had thought about replacing it with the battery from the GT and buying a new one for the GT. Well when I went to the AZ website the battery they call out for the GT is a FLOODED CELL type not the O.E. AGM style like come with the car. They even state that charging effeciency may not be as good by using the flooded cell style. My ? is should I stick with another AGM style such as OPTIMA, etc. or just find the best deal on a maint. free vented flooded cell style. My concern is that the GT's charging system is set up for an AGM style battery. But if a flooded cell would work as well I would go with one.

THANKS IN ADVANCED FOR ANY COMMENTS

Have you tried a different website to see what battery they recommend?

Have you checked the CCA of the GT's battery to see if its enough for your truck?

HELLO. I have checked other retailer websites as well as other auto forums. What I have learned is that My year of GT had a AGM style battery as original equipment. An AC DELCO #34p7YR. DELCO has discontinued this model and replaced it with model #34H7YR which is a flooded/wet cell style. My concern is that my GT's charging system is designed to charge a AGM style battery so should I use an AGM style as a replacement or just go with the standard flooded/wet cell style? I was just wondering if anyone has been down this road before.
The old DELCO is rated at 680 cca. so it should work ok in the truck.

THANKS

We used an Optima red top AGM battery in my son's '08 GXP and it works fine. His OE Delco didn't last long. Also, the newer GM charging systems have that monitoring device at the battery and the DIC gives a readout.

i believe in duralast as they have let me down so far. i got one in my s/10 and my dodge ram. i mentioned this before when i bought my s/10 about 7 years ago and it's duralast and still going.

The problem with Autozone Duralast batteries is they are not AGM spec. :grinno: Optimas are and a good replacement for the stock Delco OE AGM. I know that for a fact since I have used one and not giving a speculative answer. Autozone carries the Optima line. See link.
