Adding keyless entry to 2007 fleet vehicle

I bought a used 2007 Taurus and discovered (after the deal) that the car doesn't have anti-skid brakes or remote keyless entry. Some sort of stripped-down fleet vehicle. I guess adding an anti-skid brake system would be extremely difficult, but can I add keyless entry? Does anyone know if there's a module or receiver that I could install to gain this capability? I feel like a fool escorting my wife to the car because there's not even a key hole on the passenger side.

Do you have electric locks? if so, you can buy a remote keyless entry module off Ebay for about $35-- for another $20, you can add the remote starter and keyless entry combo.

If manual locks, (no buttons on the doors etc) you can put electric actuators in each door (kit costs about $39- for a four door) and then add the keyless entry with either remote start or just by itself....I've done it both ways- depends on what the owner wants to do.

Thanks for the tip. It has electric locks and trunk release. No luck on ebay for an 07, but I'll keep checking.

For the cost and amount of wiring needed for keyless entry it's likely better to just go with an aftermarket keyless entry system. Not to mention the range of even the cheap aftermarket systems is generally better than the OEM keyless. Since your Taurus already has power locks and power trunk release (make sure it's a button rather than cable actuated lever) it would be pretty straight forward to install an aftermarket system.

what do you mean no luck on ebay? Search for keyless entry- there are tons of aftermarket systems on there-- and they are not vehicle year specific- will fit any year..

Good point! I've been digging around a little. I would need to replace the Smart Junction Box (SJB) with one that supports remote keyless. Supposedly it's an easy switchout. I would need to locate the right SJB, though. This would give me some other auto features as well that were not put on the fleet vehicles.

Please forget the car specifics--smart junction box is not needed-- everything will come in your keyless entry kit- all you do is hook the wires into the lock and unlock circuits that you already have-- plus a 12v positive wire and a ground wire and an antenna wire- it is really quite simple to do-- I recommend the crimestopper model CS-870 RKE which is on ebay right now for $26. You can go to the crimestopper.com web site and look up the model and instruction manual if you are interested in how it works. (it is under support)

I bought one of the same make and model of Taurus. My question is where is the module located in the car that controls the electric doors and windows. I have both and electric trunk. Would you possibly have picture to help me locate it. I spent 30 minutes today going from one side of underneath the dash to the other.

The power door lock functions are built in to the Smart Junction Box (SJB) on the 2007 Taurus. The SJB is located under the dash panel on the driver's side. It appears to basically piggyback the fuse/relay panel.

Thanks! I thought I was hearing the trunk relay clicking on this panel. Now, is there a "shade tree version" of what wires do what coming out of this module? I really appreciate this.
