2003 Caravan 3.3 se Alternator AMP 160 in a 140

Hello,
I have a 2003 Grand Caravan SE with the 3.3L. The pulley / decoupler clutch makes an annoying growling noise and I went to the Junkyard and purchased a 160 AMP without checking the installed version. I now believe I have the 140AMP. Does anyone know of a potential issue with installing the 160 AMP? I cant think of any. The 160 was put into higher model variations with tow packages and heated seats. I believe the regulator will just do its thing. Please provide any feedback, thanks.

Ok, I put in the alternator last night and there are no issues that I can tell with going between the 140 AMP and the 160 AMP. The used alternator has the same problem with the overrunning clutch pulley. The noise is a lot better. It is louder but now only persistant at idle and in gear. Is there a cheap place to buy the pulley?

Rock Auto has them, but they are not cheap. $47.79 plus shipping. Look for it under the "belt drive" folder.

I've also seen them on eBay.

Good luck.

Ok, I tried another alternator - this time out of an '05. This time the whooomroom whooomroom whooomroom noise was more consistant and much louder. Same problems with all three alternators. Time for new?
