2006 Malibu Maxx Door Locks and Alarm

I know these cars have a lot of issues with Locking and Alarm Systems, so I apoligize for this add'l post----but I could use some insight and direction to troublshoot my problem.

Just bought my Maxx and am trying to fix the door locks. I did not get FOB's with the car. Locks work automatically when you place it in and out of gear. And the key in the door locks & unlocks them properly. No fuses are blown.

But the lock switches in the front doors don't work at all, and without any Key FOB, its a real pain. The alarm also goes off sometimes when you open a door and the car is not running. Could these problems be related??? Could is be the BCM, or am I making this too dieficult. Maybe I simply replace both door switches and I'll be fine?

Any ideas would be appreciated

I wouldn't want to send you off on a wild goose chase however, you might try looking at this if you haven't already. On the rear compartment fuse block in the trunk check fuse #16. In my 2004 Malibu owner manual it says - used for Remote keyless entry system, XM satellite radio, rear seat entertainment system and homelink.

Also, I had a similar problem with my trunk remote and driver unlock not working. I found that the fob and inside trunk opening only send out a very brief pulse even if the fob key or driver side button is held down. The relay #36 on the same panel was sluggish. I swapped it out with the same type from the panel and got it working.

My concern is also that you didn't get the FOBs. Where are they? They were standard equip. Knowing that some bimbo could easily steal your car is not too comforting...I'd demand them from wherever you bought the car. I assume not a Chevy dealer...

Thanks for the replies. Jetex, I hadn't looked at the rear fuse block, so that was a great idea----unfortnately, I didn't fnd anything amiss bk there. And Wpbharry, I am pretty disappointed that I don't have the FOB's, but am on my own to get new ones.
In the meantime, I should be able to get the locks, etc working without them.
Will do some more digging. Thx again
