Possibly buying a 1991 legacy AWD

I am looking at buying a 1991 Legacy AWD with about 200,000 on it. The owner says that the front CV axle is starting to click when going around corners and its go a hole in the exhaust but not sure where. He says it bluebooks at $1200 in fair condition and is willing to sell it for 600 considering it needs some work done on it. Does this sound reasonable? How difficult is it to replace the cv axle. Anything I need to know about this year legacy? Anything I need to look for when I go check it out in a couple days?
