P10 Gas tank size?

Hey, how big is the gas tank in a 94 G20? I'm trying to calculate my mileage, and I feel like the tank is small, but I'm used to a car with a 20 gallon tank.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I think it's 15.7 gallons. I've never had to fill up more than 12 gallons though, and that's when the gauge is on E, and i was trying to get the gas light to come on to make sure it worked (I chickened out) :biggrin2: I can check the FSM later, but i'm almost positive it's 15.7 gallons

Yeah, mine was a little below E and the gas light didn't come on. I wonder if it works??????

Thanks,

Jeremy

You don't need to know the size of your tank to figure your mileage. Just divide the number of miles driven since the last fill up by the ammount of gas pumped into your car.

Yeah, I could do that, but math isn't my problem. I still wanted to know how big the tank is, since it doesn't seem to actually be empty when it's on E. Knowing that the tank is 15.7 gallons, and I've not put near that to fill it when the gauge was on empty, makes me think there's something weird with my gauge, or maybe it's a common thing with these cars that I'm just not used to yet.

I was wondering about the gas light too...and behold it does work! I think when you have 2 gallons (or less) in your tank...soo its like below E :) but its kinda dim...so you can almost really only see it at night.

Is it on the right side of the gauge cluster, or over on the left with the bright indicator? Weird, so the gauge is apparently inaccurate. Interesting, but it makes sense, now that I know....

What exactly is a 93 1/4 G20? Just curious.

It's on the left side on my 95. I'd assume it's in the same place on all P10s. And I wouldn't say the gauge is inaccurate, it just hits E quicker than most cars and gives you a little extra "insurance" in the tank. The way it is, just makes it harder to run out of gas.

I'll show them, they can't trick anyone!!! I'll run out of.... hey wait a second!!! :D

does it really matter how inaccurate the guage is so long as it is consistantly inaccurate.

consistently inaccurate:) I like that phrase. It's almost as good as "not economically viable". But seriously, no, it doesn't matter. On my other car I can tell exactly how much gas I have left by the gauge and I know exactly how far a certain amount of gas will get me. I'm just trying to get used to a different car for my daily driver, and the gauge seems to be, as you put it, consistently inaccurate....

So did they change anything cool mid-year? Just curious...

Oh yah...alot changed lets see.

One, they got rid of those pain in the ass auto seatbelts...and the reason they could get away with that is dual front airbags are put in. Some of the engine componets are different than 91-93..and after 93.5 they went to a low port engine. Its neat becuase the 93.5 is a high port engine, but without some of the crap that 91-93 had with it...so its kinda unique. I believe they went to new tire size...and im sure theres some other additions that i forgot.

Auto seatbelts suck. I had them in my conquest, but I went and found a wrecked '86 and put the manual ones it had in my '87. Liked it much better.
