My Dad has been looking in at trading in his 1996 GMC Sierra Duely and started looking at a dealership in Wilmington. After they would not return his calls, he decided to go to a dealership in Jacksonville. They told him he could not afford it. :D Ha, My dad own's his own Construction Business and takes in about $15,000 dollars a month. He said it was mainly because he wrote himself a two hundred dollar check the other day. So, he went to ford and looked at them with the free hard hats. :D The Dealership finally called back and he may just get the Silverado.
I like the look of the truck, and he's getting it with the Big Block Vortec 8100 V8 SFI series. It is really powerful. About 240 horsepower @ 4200 rpm. It has 455 pounds per foot of torque at 3200 rpm. He's looking at a 4-door Silverado 3500 Model.
Some silver color. His Duely is pooter (sp?). It is a sortof grey and Brown mixed together.

Hey 1HOTVETT, does your father know how many SSR pickups his dealership will be getting? I am listed at 2 dealerships for one, but have no confirmation. I know it is early to be making the order. The truck is due to be realeased for the 2003 model year (Oct-Nov 2002). Usually dealerships will accept orders around 3 months before the official release. If your father can give me more information, I would be very interested in placing the order through his dealership.
Thanks.
Thanks.

also quickly threw away the original muffler and exhaust in favor of a specifically designed dual exhaust system with Flowmaster 50 series. The exhaust was done by the best exhaust guy I have seen in the business in Montana. Long distance, but well worth the trip
this does not tell me much.. im not going to drive all the way to montana to get the same exhaust as you. please tell me what exactly what all i will need
Thanks

In short...
Cut the Y-pipe just about 6" before the siamese section (before it comes together). In CA this is not legal, but most inspectors won't see the difference if it is done professionally. From there on back to the dual Flowmaster mufflers, a simple straight section for each tube is fine. From the mufflers back, there are several ways to go. You can go back over the rear end on the passenger side with both tubes and then cut across the back to make the traditional Dual look (not my choice). I instead ran the driver's side tube to its proper side before going over the rear end. One thing you have to pay attention though is if the tube runs too close to the brake line as it comes close to the rear end on the driver's side, it could cause the brake fluid to reach temperatures that are too hot and could result in boiling the brake fluid, not a good sinerio.
It is not as simple as all that, because the truck is so low, everything is really tight. There is far less room for everything, especially after I flipped the rear end on top of the leaf springs. The shocks are also in a bad location for a true dual exhaust. I have not yet moved my shock locations, but it really needs to be done. I have not done that yet, as I am designing the 4-Link rear end for the truck. I am hugely unsatisfied with the leaf springs, so given enough time, I look forward to the chance to throw them away altogether in favor of the 4-Link.
Hope that helps. I could tell you exactly where the tubes go, but it still comes down to an exhaust guy that can acutally do it right. That is why I have one guy do all of my stuff. He knows me and the stuff I usually bring to him is really tough. Nobody else could touch it.
