Antifreeze + Rain X?

Hi all,

My husband and I have a problem and I'm hoping someone on here can give us some advice. This evening my husband went down to his car to pour in some new Rain X. It was dark and he accidentally poured some of the Rain X into his radiator, where, of course, it mixed with the antifreeze.

How big of a problem is this? We're going to call a mechanic in the morning (everyone's closed now). Is it safe to drive the car? What can be done to fix it?

Prestone has a formula 5-year extended life, you can mix with any color.

Rainx is orange, it's an anti freeze protection for the window.

So what you are saying is that your husband was going to pour rain-x in the washer tank but instead ended up putting it in the radiator? Is it the regular 1 gallon bottle? and how much of it did he put in?

Chances are the Rain X will be very heavily diluted and won't have any impact, however if you can tell us what make and model of car, we can help you a lot more.

Most modern cars have a separate, non pressurized plastic header tank that is separate from the radiator.
These can often be easily removed and drained with basic, or even no tools.

^This is what I think. Rain-x is just water + some glass clearning chemicals that arn't harsh.
