Looks like the SDU message board went down today and Brendon decided to link here from SDU as an alternative, I am not sure if this is just temporary or permanent... but eitherways, welcome you all! What is actually wrong with SDU..

Hiya guys and gals,
the team who have been kind enough to maintain the SDU forum on their server have had issues with the box (computer) it was sitting on. As some of you may have experienced it was down intermittently and now down... and out. I have been giving them time to sort it out as there are a couple of commercial sites hosted there which take priority (in their world :) ) and thought AF would be the best place to come and hang in the meantime.

About now would be a great time to thank Igor and the AF crew for having us. AF has been up and running as long as SDU, and both have gone through various phases. I must say Igor that AF has really jumped ahead in leaps and bounds man, and that on behalf of the SDU community 'thanks again dude'

'Bringing communities together' is the Automotive Forums mission, and your online vehicle has certainly provided the facility.

I will get back to you all on the status of our beloved forum, it is important that we do not lose the numerous threads in there, as the quality of information is very high.

Either way, I think it will be a healthy move for our community to partner up with AF. Especially considering the focus of AF is on delivering strong consistent and relative infrastructure.

i misss SDU :(

Once Brendon attains the message board's database, we will be able to transfer all the posts onto AF, and thus not losing any precious information... if that's what Brendon wants to do, I am ready for it :)

And now AF friends!!, I was trying like every 10 mins to get into the forums untill the sad notice arrived and told me, geese I even tried the chat too but the guys in there aren't very bright me thinks........

But damn I want SDU back up I am having SDU withdrawl and was even bored enough to look through the entire SDU webpages....
Damn I miss the unlimited supply of knowledge from all the SDU members, and the homey ness that the Forums felt like....

I made it finally ( ahhh a forum to talk on)

it was a hardware issue, and the box has been reconstructed. Just gotta get everything re-installed (including all OPLEEZ's posts). It should'nt be too long now, and SDU will be backonline.
We will be reviewing much of SDU online to prepare for these sorts of emergencies in future.

I have been in contact with Ph regarding the server. It will be Monday at the latest so I am told. I have found a suitable server at www.venturesonline.com and am writing a business case accordingly which I will end up presenting to a few companies to get SDU back online on a bulletproof server permanently. No more favours to keep us served for free with useless server integrity. In the meantime he will get the existing one back online until we have done a dump of the database to the new server.
For those of you who use the server IP instead of the URL, you'll need to resave it accordingly when we have moved.
Ph is also looking at a dedicated server for us and we have discussed a very wide range of options surrounding this. We will know by Monday if we are going dedicated own server, or using VO. Until now I have not gotten too involved in the server side as I had assumed it would be OK, but I get up in the morning and first go to SDU. But now it's forum is not there, I end up going and playing with my car instead. (Dammit, duh... um... anyway)

Speaking of that I failed my Warrant of Fitness - yeah - my R32 GTS4 Skyline is perfect except needs four new tyres :devil: (hee hee hee - thought that'd put a smile on your dial)

Also, checked my programmable ECU mapping today... ...woops! going off track here. More about that later!

So, I am looking forward to Monday. I am soooo... sorry about the inconvenience. (even though it was beyond my control I still feel bad)

Thanks to Igor once again for having us over so often. I look forward to the day I can visit so I can buy that man a beer!

Be strong brothers and sisters, a new super SDU forum will be back online and I guarantee you it will be much better. (there is a plan)

Actually i feel very refeshed as I got 5 hrs last night and that is a lot for me. usually around the 4 hr mark is normal.

That is the problem with the younger guys. Great out of the gate but no stanima eheheh
