Good news !!

Something I can report from the french text:

- The C4 WRC will be released in two different scale (probably 1/24 and 1/43)
- they are working on the DS3 WRC and expect to release it in early 2012.
- a new range of kits including PE and resin parts will come soon (tanks or cars or both ??)
- they will re-release paints and brushes
- ten most "wanted models" from heller history will be reissued.

another noticable point to me, 40% of Heller sales are in foreign countries (out of France so) !!

Next week i'm going to Nurnberg toy fair
i will look for the heller booth, i hope to see a prototype of the C4 WRC.
because the price will be higher than older heller kits like xsara i hope the quality will be better too.

will keep updated here.

What exactly is the interest in producing resin parts when the company has 10 injection machines available for producing plastic kits?!
Maybe it is just me who doesn't get the point of this and someone can clarify this.

Otherwise I am happy that they are back in business and will be re-editing some older kits of theirs given that they have 1200 molds laying around (according to the article).

Question can be asked, right...
It's clearly written that plastic kits are already 100% made with these plastic injection system, so I guess they want to increase the toys and games part of the production on those system and resin parts would not take availability of the machines or need a new investment in other ones (?? :dunno:)
Moreover I suppose it's a way to give a higher quality and details standard to the kits, as the market show brands (especially through transkits) often offering PE and resinBut IMO this special point is more for military kits.
I don't see either a real special interest to make some part of a standard car kit in resin when tanks can be highly upgraded with such additional and optional resin parts there aren't inevitably on a racing car (or less often only depending on some different evolutions/versions).
I'm not sure a resin rear wing will bring us more than a plastic one, but some tanks optional parts made in resin will for sure be a valuable addition to the basic kit.
Pe will be great for both themes though. :naughty:

So, are Heller's kits as bad as I've heard? (Soft detail on bodies, general detail lacking, etc.) I have no experience with them, so I'm curious. I'd love to do some of the Xsaras and a C4...just curious. Anyone?

Hellers Xsaras arent perfect, they suffer from all that you mention, but there isnt many options other than Heller/Airfix in 1/24 Xsaras, they can still be built into nice models but they are a long way short of Tamiya for example on detail. Still I'd love if they would do the Xsara and DS3

Yes, and it looks sharper than the older kits. I'm very pleased that they have changed decal supplier, now renaissance (printed by Interdecal?), old Heller decals used to be very awful.

But on the other hand, chassis and interior are too simplified, for example fire extinguishers and some wires have been molded to floor, too bad. I would have liked to see tires, if they have been improved, like rims.

Anyway, Looks good , compared their older product (though these teaser photos are too small to show detailing more precisely).

Some french stores has it from 30 to 40 euros.

It's not so expensive, those stores aren't serious if this is their real price.
Got mine yesterday for 28,90 euros.

No indoor panels as stated by Micha, one part wheels but way too narrow (as tires then), no opened grilles, only decals above plastic...
Just have to wait for TK releases to improve all of that, but the base isn't too bad either.

I must say, it is a shame, that they did not learn and listen to what modelers say or write about their kits

I totally agree, one-part wheels seems to be the only improvement and lesson they learnt from past releases feedbacks...

I already spent 2/3 hours on the kit, examinating it under each angle possible, helping myself with my pics from the France and Germany rallies, there are a lot of things to correct... or make !! as the door inside panels...
the base is interesting, but once more with heller, result isn't at the level of the expectations... :screwy: :disappoin
Nevertheless i'm sure that once more too the talent of some builders will put this model to a high standard and result for a cheapest price than a multimedia kit. :naughty:
I started opening vents on mine, but there is a lot to correct on the body (wheel arch shape, front bumper lip thickness and shape, etc.) before really starting working on it.
I'm also preparing a gallery of reference pics as long as I see all things having to be corrected. :runaround:
Will share that in a few days, once it's ready.

Great, just hopping it won't be too expensive, cos there aren't many things and other brands (HD ?) will surely release their own stuff...
