it is a 4.0 motor the head is crack the book calls out for a tooling to hold the crank and a tool to hold or set the cam do i need the tools 2005 mustang engine code n 4.0l 6 cyl.

Yes, the tools keeps the cam locked in one position so when you remove the followers, the cam does not spin on you, preventing you from miss timing the motor or bending a valve during the timing process. The tool holds the cam in a particular position once you are at TDC.
