Commissioned works?

Not sure the best place to ask, but I'm looking for somebody who does commissioned builds. Although I am building my own scale version of my '65 Impala, http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1059201 I would like to also have one built by a real pro, with more experience than myself. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I`ll second plumberboy. I do commissioned builds, but I think at the level you are at, it wouldnt be worth the expense. The Impala looks great, and I really like your Camaro you just posted. Just keep posting questions as you go along on the Impala, and we will help you to get it looking just as good as any "pro" would be able to doo. :)

Thanks for the compliments...I just feel there may be somebody who has a few better tools for building these. I don't even have an airbrush. To be honest, I wasn't even planning on starting a hobby, but now I've already got several cars I want to build!! If I did have one commisioned, I would definately expect better than what I am able to do (or equipped to do), and also just because this car was quite special to me. Thanks for the replies also!!

Just wanted to add a little more that will hopefully give you some encouragement.

I had an airbrush about 15 years ago. I used it on a total of about 3 models. :D Since then, all, and I mean ALL, of my finishes have been done with spray cans...even the commissioned ones, and the one that made the magazine cover. Unless you are trying to do some blending, or custom mixing of colors, or some other type of "trick" paint job, you should be good with just the cans.
Also, it sounds that you found a hobby that you really like and can be passionate about. If that is the case, your builds will just naturally keep getting better, and things will just "work themselves out." :) Have fun.
:) :) Again, I really liked your Camaro! Your builds look like those of someone who has been building for a while. Maybe you should start thinking about commissioned builds. :)

Not at all, I really appreciate it!! I've decided to start collecting all the parts I need to duplicate this build, in case I want to give it another go down the road, when I'm a bit more confident in my skills...:biggrin:

i do comissioned builds but but i wont build a car for you, youre off to a pretty damm good start dont see why you would need something better than what you got and a real pro would charge 300$ and up for about the same detail youre posting. keep them comming

I agree with those who think you're pretty damn good and don't need to hire anybody to do the job. BUT... for anyone who really wants to commission a model, here's a way to go:

Find a modeler's work that you like on AF or other modeling forums. (Some sites have sections devoted to completed projects.) PM the modeler. Ask him or her if they are interested in taking on your project. Make an offer or ask for a bid/price.

Chances are you'll get a positive response. We all like to make money, and we especially like it when we can make money doing what we enjoy.

Your doing a great job on your model, and if you have someone else build it itll be less the fun and satisfaction. Plus it will cost you an arm and a leg.

Only '65 Impala I can find now is the lowrider version though, so I'm hoping it isn't too drastically different. (Both are Monogram).
I am getting to enjoy building this one, my thoughts were just that I would also like one that is really done by an experienced modeler who might be better equipped than myself...(I basically just started building last year, and didn't build at all during the summer) but since I've gotten pretty positive feedback so far, I think I will keep working on gaining more experience :tongue:

all the 65 impalas are the same except the convertible the lowrider version lacks stock tires but doesnt look like youll be needing them lol

So the suspension is still stock? I thought it would have custom parts for the lowrider version. I have a 1970 Monte Carlo lowrider and it didn't have any stock pieces in it...I guess I'll find out soon, as it's already in the mail
