Heat/AC issue

I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. For probably a year or better I have had issues with the blower intermittently not working. It would not work on any speed. If I hit the dash by the glove compartment or slammed my door it would come on and all would be fine. Now today it has gone out and I cannot get it to come back on. I assumed maybe a loose connection. I pulled the control unit out of the dash an checked the 3 electrical connections on the back and all appears well, nothing is loose. I also checked the fuses.

During the whole time of having this problem that was the only issue. Changing fan speed, temp, and direction all worked fine.

I have seen many thoughts about what could potentially be causing this.

It's a 2002 GP 3.1 and has the manual dual climate control.

I'm really hoping someone has an answer, it's gonna be -25 tonight.

Thanks in advance

Update. After banging on the blower motor it started again. Only problem is now the driver's side blows heat and the passenger side blows cold air. The driver's side also isn't blowing as hard as the passenger side.

as for banging on the blower motor; the brushes in the motor are worn. A new blower will fix it that concern. I've been hitting mine for 4 years now.

can you hear/see the temp actuator door move when you move the heat control?

I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet. I will be tomorrow. I have to figure out where the actuators are. That would seem to make sense. I would assume that there is one on each side. Any idea where to look?

the blower motor resistors are common as well...ie speeds 1-3 will not work

I think you can remove the glove box and look into the opening and to the left and see the actuator. The armature on it should move when you change temperature. It it does not move, take it out and open it up and look inside. It might have a broken gear. At least that's the way it is on my '98.

Well after further checking it is the climate control head unit. It's a dealer only part as far as I can tell. Anyone know any place to get one? Dealer wants $450 plus tax just for the part.
