gas mileage

I bought a Frontier new in 2007. 4WD. I got about 20/21 MPG. Since then my mileage has slowly dropped to around 16/17. Any ideas why, truck has 65K miles.
Also does anyone know anything about the computer chips that are suppose to increase mileage and power? If so, what is the best and where can i get it?
