Hi everyone... I have a 97 Dakota heater issue, I have read most posts and looked st Youtube vids about flushing the core. Some use air and some use a hose. In this case I used a hose. Went to parts store and bought 2 universal flush kits, since these are for many size hoses I used one for each side of the core, pinched each side that goes to the engine creating a closed loop for the heater core. Then hooked a water supply to one side while connecting a hose running to a bucket on the other side. supplied pressure and, WOW was I surprised to see the GUNK come from the core, then reversing the procedure I got the same result, did this till the water ran clear, and then used the supplied caps to close the system and took off the clamps on hoses and started the truck to have a nice comfortable heater again, yippie... hope this can help some other reader to try this before replacing the core.

Good deal! Glad to know that flushing the core fixed your heat
