09 Ninja Starter Issue

I have an 09 Ninja 500R, 5,2xxx miles. I prepped it for winter, clean and lubed the chain, fresh fuel with stabil, blah blah blah, back in Oct. I don't pull the battery cause I like to start it every few weeks during the winter. But with finals and the holidays, I haven't been. So the battery died, and I charged it. Went to start it, and it sounds like a buzzer from like a game show or something. The tach hits about 1,500 rpms, and that's it. Doesn't start. Any ideas? I wouldn't think the starter would go out this soon.

yes it could be starter i ride bikes only other thing i can think of would buzz would be one of the horns.

normally, that type of buzzing noise from a starter is from lack of amperage. Is the battery in a position where you can get jumper cables on it? Maybe try that to be sure the battery is up to the task.

yes i do agree that it is most likely the battery. from what i have experienced, the cold beats the crap out of batteries

Regardless, it's a good investment to pick up a trickle charger (mine is the Battery Tender brand). It's nice to know you won't wind up with a dead battery from lack of starting. I got LUCKY in that I never winterized this year because I lost out on the Fall riding season due to an injury and didn't think to do it once it got cold, but at any rate, my bike did start which was nearly a miracle!
