95' Lesabre off idle missfire - Unable to read code

Did some reading on the forums tonight about 'fishbite'. I like the analogy as it fit's so well the way it feels. My Lesabre is a 95 with a Series 1 3800. I'd say it's generally well taken care of with new NGK direct fit wires and delco plugs done a year ago.
With the check engine 'on' tonight for the first time ever, is there a way to verify that it has coded because of a missfire?. As you probably guessed already, I don't have a scan tool for this OBD1? style ECM. Do I even need one, can the code be reset by disconnecting the battery?
Clint.

Stop at the local Auto parts store, they can pull code for free!"the local Auto parts store" will not have a scanner capable of reading OBD1.5 which the '95 has; it takes a special scanner with OBD1 & OBD11 communication. :eek7: Do a search on this site for recommendations on what is compatible.

Yes he need a tool that will read the funky 94-95 GM OBD1... 99% of all parts stores can only read OBD2...
This car has the OBD2 connector but runs on the OBD1 Protocol, But it has to be read with a tool that is capable of reading this car as it uses 5 didget Pxxxx codes..
