1985 PONY idle and ignition probs

ok... i picked up a 85 pony with -2500 on the odometer... (ok its 97500, but its going to roll over):grinno:

vehicle runs pretty good in the dead of cold. needs the choke and a bit of throttle to start up and idle then after 3 seconds it idles fine. runs well all the time gets up to operating temp, then if its shut down it doesnt like to start the best, but it starts.

BUT, if its ran on the highway at over 80 km/h for 15 minutes it idles like crap, almost stalling out (low idle) and if left idling it will stall out and WILL NOT restart till it cools down. other night it decided to do just that and started checking out the igntion... i had no spark. let it sit till it cooled down a bit and she fired up after some cranking.

whats odd is the plugs are nice and white/light brown, not fouled.

but with what i said, if it isnt ran on the highway it runs fine. starts everytime, doesnt need the choke unless its the first start of the day.

was going to be checking the point gap soon, as ive ran the car a couple thousand km since i bought it and i know it should be checked regularly.

shes a classic. its rusty and smelly, but its wheels till my truck is back on the road. and its nicer to work on then anything with electronic gremlins. atleast theres only a couple electronics... including a cool looking analog clock in the guage cluster!
