99 Cavalier Turn the key you can hear the pump kick in and the car starts fine. The next time you turn the key and can not here the pump but you also will have no spark. Would a bad pump cause no spark? or is this a sensor thing? thanks for any help

when you say you can hear pump do you turn it off and rite back on you cant hear pump? and the spark is most likely coil pack or module under coil pack.

The car did not start last sunday I checked for a spark and there was no spark. I then tried to start it again thats when I noticed that you could not hear the pump. I tried 3 more times and then you could hear the pump and the car started. Right now you have to try 5 or 6 times before you hear the pump and the car starts. When the is now pump sound there is also no spark. I have never run into anything like this before

have coil pack checked at auto zone no charge take neg cable off also when doing this. if coils check ok then i would say module or maybe look at plugins to module see if plugin is getting good connection there and at the module? if not that it may be in the key cylender in sterring wheel. hope you don't have to drop tank if none of these cures it.
