At the SPC forum we started a 360 Modena/Spider groupbuild.

I entered it with a 360 Modena:

Those wheels look great and will look great on that car.

Q: are they a true 2 piece with a metal sleeve and resin center?
Q: are they staggered with wider rears?

I cant wait to see your talents on the 360!

No they are not metal and resin, but just all plastic. But yes they are 2 piec :) And yes the rearwheels have a wider lip, but the tyres are still the same.

I see, thank you for the insight.

I cant wait to see your car progress, the pic for the inspiration looks awesome.

Cant wait to see more updates!

You will love building this kit. I should warn you, however, to make sure the glass fits before you paint it. You may have to install the glass, then mask it off and do the painting as the glass is fairly difficult to put in. other than that, the kit goes together as any typical late model Tamiya kits.

I love the inspiration for this build and would love to follow the progress. Two questions however: 1) what is SPC? Scalesportscars.com? just a guess but idk 2) are those rims hard to find?

Cant wait to watch this build and all the other 360 group builds that im sure will pop up, good stuff

SPC is another modelling forum: http://forum.spc.org.uk/phpBB3/index.php

Those rims are not that hard to find I think. These are just released, but they are always sold out very quick. I think Hiroboy or HobbySearch still sells them.

Hey RX7King, hiroboy is the one who created the spc forum.

Kris, I have to say that i have been playing around with those rims for a while. By putting them under many cars to see how it will look, and have to say almost every model kit looks great with a set of those aoshima bbs lms. Good luck with the kit, should look good when done.

Well guys.... I finally could post my first update :D

First I sanded the body after rescribing the panellines.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_%28Custom%29.JPG

And put the floorpanel together

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis_%28Custom%29~1.JPG

And the engine. I painted it with different metallic shades, and after drying I added a layer of smoke and semigloss clear on it. The exhaust are original chrome with some heatstaining with tamiya clear paints.
The Ferrari logo's are PE.

I'm still not sure about the bodycolor. The more I look at the flat grey reference pic, the more I dislike it :D Sometime it looks mean, the other time boring... We'll see what color I'm gonna paint it.

Before my vacation I did some paintwork. First I sanded the body and made the panellines a bit deeper using a panelscriber.

After that I sprayed some Zero grey primer on it.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_%283%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_%284%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

The flat grey idea is flown away because I wanted a nice red color. This Mica Red from Lexus will suit the car i think.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_%285%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

First I had to paint a red basecoat:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleurtje_spuiten_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleurtje_spuiten_%282%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Then I could paint the mica red on it. The badges are from E-jan and from the PE set.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleurtje_spuiten_%287%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

Now it was time for some clearcoat. I used Zero 2K. I had some trouble while spraying, but the overall look is good for me.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleurtje_spuiten_%2813%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

The wheels were painted gloss black as a basecoat cause I didn't know what to do with them. Finally I decided to paint the lips in Polished Alu and the spokes with Titanium using Aclad paint. The wheelnuts are chrome painted and the Ferrari badges are HD 3D with a drup of clear on them.

Meanwhile I polished the body and already added some small parts like the frontlights. Now I can focus on the interior.

Update time :)

I spent some time to work on the interior. First I waited for my Hiroboy order which came yesterday. One of the thing I ordered is Ochre Yellow interiorpaint.

So I first painted the seats. After they were dry I painted the ferrari logo and added the PE seatbelt thing.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%281%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

Now it was time for the dashboard. First painted it ochre yellow, followed by some masking to paint the center in metallic grey and also clearcoated it. Then some more masking was needed to paint the lower section in semigloss black. After that I could add some tacho decals and the PE face for it. The steering wheels was also painted and got his shiftpaddles and 3d logo.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%282%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%283%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

The doorpanels where also painted ochre yellow first, followed by metallic grey and clearcoat. After that I masked some more and painted the black parts. I also added some Light Buff interiorflocking from Hiroboy.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%284%29_%28Custom%29~2.JPG

The centerconsole was painted metallic grey and clearcoated. After that I added the interiorflocking and lastly I added the PE pedals.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%286%29_%28Custom%29~1.JPG

And finished the interior.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%2813%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

An other part I had a lot of trouble with, was the hood. I cutted the Tamiya one in pieces to fit on the PE parts. The PE part was made out of different layers and didn't fitt anymore when I was ready. The rearwindow also didn't fit anymore. After some more troubles with this piece of sh*t, I decided to use the Tamiya part again and glue it together. Now it's finished and it fitts!

And here is my last update before finished photos.

Yesterday I did a lot of work to finish it for a forum meeting in Netherland. So I started to finish the brakes and the suspension.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/onderstel_%285%29_%28Custom%29.JPG

And I finished the body. Added the PE vents and mesh more other small parts. I also glued the windows in place. I had a lot of trouble with the sidewindows. They have not much glue surface and my A-pillars were bent in the beginning so that made it even worse. But I did my best to make the best out of it.

I also made a stupid mistake. I forget to put the enginebay part into the body. Now the body is already glued on the chassis! And I can't go through the hood because that is glued close :D. Luckely it isn't visible that much.
