I have been reviewing the threads concerning a bad ignition switch now to my problems and/or symptoms.
My daughter has been complaining about her rpm and mph gauges not working the rpm reads zero and the mph maxed out. She has been driving it for awhile like this and yesterday her trans quit working all together will not go into any gear. Haven't had a chance to check the power at the fuse but hopefully will do that tomorrow. My question is would a faulty ignition switch cause the trans to not go into any gear. Ie the trans act as if it was in park or nuetral.
Thanks

A bad ignition switch would not cause the transmission to lose all movement. A bad ignition switch would cut electrical power to the transmission which in turn will put the transmission in limp mode. When in limp mode the transmission stays in 3rd gear all the time, you do have reverse and you can force shifts (L1, L2). Low gears can be achieved manually because low gears are not electronically controlled (Reverse also).
If you have lost all movement of the vehicle, forward and reverse, you have internal transmission problems.
