Ok guys, I'll start with this new Revell kit.
I got it straight from the Revell company to build it for a dutch modelling magazine.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%281%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
The kit contains a lot of parts, but a few of them won't be needed. I don't know why but Revell putted some extra steeringwheels, exhausts and other parts in it. And they are not the same....
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%282%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
And some carbon and numberplate decals which won't be used.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%283%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
The body also looks good. Some minor moldingmarks which can be easily removed.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%285%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%286%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
Because this is a 1/25 kit and from the USA (i think) the wheels are much better then the german Revell. The tyres are still crap, but the wheels are just one piece this time :D So if there are some german people from Revell who watching this thread.... PLEASE stop using those shitty multipiece wheels!
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%284%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
Under the car they look like this:
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%287%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%288%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG
That's not how I want it, so I will use some Aoshima 2 piece Kranze wheels.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%2812%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG
The spokes will be painted in a different color, but since I don't know what color I'll use for the body I have to wait to paint them.

The extra parts are from the other vette kits. Yea, please make revell ag stop with the weird 2 piece wheels. You guys always get the better decal sheets tho.

As Frank says, the extra parts are from earlier non-ZR1 'Vettes. Pay attention to the instructions/part numbers, and Google yourself images of the ZR1 interior/engine/etc.
I'd heard the Revell AG decals weren't that great for the carbon fiber. The two sections, the roof itself and the B pillar area should be going in two different directions. I'll be using some tape to make templates for mine.
Yes, the wheels are nice...but dammit Revell, if you are going to tool up new wheels and tires, it would be nice if they were the proper 19's front 20's rear and not 18's & 19's :banghead:
Do some kit designers still not have a clue that the visible wheel diameter is larger than the diameter of the tire bead where it meets the rim? I suspect that has to be the case :shakehead
A 20" wheel in 1/25 scale should measure out to about .86" or 21.84 mm. The ZR1 wheels are .78" front, .81" rear, or 19.81 mm front, 20.57 mm rear.

Yesterday I did some little work on the body. First I sanded the moldlines away and scribed out the panellines. After that I removed the molded ''mesh'' and opened the airintakes in the bumperlip.

I started to paint the chassis :)
Van de week ben ik begonnen het chassis alvast te spuiten.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/chassis_%28Custom%29.JPG
I glued the engineparts together and painted it Revell nr.99 Aluminium. After that I did a light wash with some thinned Tamiya Smoke paint.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_%282%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG
After that I drilled some holes to add some sparkplugs.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_%284%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG
After this I could add the chrome silver painted exhaust manifolds, the pully and belt and some decals.

So the chrome is removed from the rims.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_kleur_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
And I painted the body with 4 layers or so.

And primered the wheels:
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_kleur_%286%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
Now it's time to do some cf decal work on the body.
I also want to ask for your help. The wheels need te be repainted but I really don't know what color to use for it. I want to keep the chrome lip. Black is always a good combo on every car, but I want to go for an other color. So what do you suggest?
Kris.

Looking good!
As for wheels, I'd suggest a dark gray that complements the "color" of the carbon fiber you are using on the roof etc. Adjust the gray warm or cool depending on the particular carbon fiber you are using. Tamiya Gunmetal is a good dark gray metallic that's fairly neutral in color.

Here's my next update:
First I removed the chrome from the wheel lips. When it was gone, I primered the lips and painted them X-1 Black. The spokes were painted X-33 Bronze and I painted the wheellugs and added the Kranze decals.
All parts needs a clearcoat though.

And then the decals.... It was a P.I.T.A. but I finally managed to get all parts decalled with the new CF decals from ScaleProduction. Especially the wheelarches where very hard to do.
I also added the bodydecals. The indicatorlights are already covered with BMF and I'll paint them before the clearcoat.

This is shaping up nicely Kris!! I like the wheel choice too. Not sure if you knew or not, but the wheel lip moldings on the 1:1 car are just black plastic. Only the front splitter and rocker extensions are carbon fiber. If that's the look you were going for, it still looks cool!

This is shaping up nicely Kris!! I like the wheel choice too. Not sure if you knew or not, but the wheel lip moldings on the 1:1 car are just black plastic. Only the front splitter and rocker extensions are carbon fiber. If that's the look you were going for, it still looks cool!
I think it's a bit cheap to make it only black. I think the carbon would look much better, it's only a bit more work :D

I polished the body with several kind of waxes. The sun was shining this morning so here are some outdoor photos:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/100_8271_%28Custom%29.JPG
I also painted the windows:
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clearparts_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
While the black paint was already in the airbrush, I masked the body to paint the windowrubbers.

I also placed the headlights. First I added the inner part after painting the clear orange. I painted a black trim around the glass, which I also did on the foglights.
The airintake got some mesh.

Now I'll start with the interior. It will be a bit simmilar like this original corvette:

Got some work done on the interior. First I painted it grey, and masked these areas to spray some semigloss black.
The midconsole got some clearcoat to simulate piano gloss black :D I also added some interiorflocking. This was a mix of silver and black flocking together.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_%285%29_%28Custom%29~1.JPG
The enginecover was also painted black. After it was dry I removed the Maskol and the shiny blue parts were vissible again :D
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorafdekking_%282%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
The brakes are also improved. The original brakes are not that nice. Only the calipers look OK to me.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/remmetjes_%281%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
I'll use some simple but nice PE brakediscs from ScaleProduction.
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/remmetjes_%282%29_%28Custom%29.JPG[/
Just cutted them to fit on the original brakes.
[img]http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/remmetjes_%283%29_%28Custom%29.JPG
Unfortunatelly I made big mistake and screwed up the rearbrake calipers. So I had to use some calipers from my partsbox.
After this I made a mix of dark blue and aluminium to make a nice blue color. I brushed it and after it was dry I added the Corvette decals followed by some clearcoat.

Good job. I like the fact that you are going through the build (normal as it may be to you or to some of us) in a bit extra detail: it definitely highlights the work you're doing and makes your thread more interesting to read.
