blazer 4.3 90 knocking sound

hello guys..
the same blazer with an old sound..

when i turn on the truck there's a sound like...TICK TICK!!TICK!!.. like you're hittin' with a hammer something.. this is drive me crazy.

it's not the engine. because we install a vortec 95 on this truck and runs fine.
this sound it's like about 1 year old.

it's not the power pulley or pump. "we change it "
so... the mechanic says that the torque converter or the fan clutch will be..

when i replaced the steering gearbox... it's when this begun to do that noise...
but the steering gearbox can cause this tick tick...?????

yeah i know.. but the sound it's like from down side..
but the strange is that when i install the new steering gear this sound starts...

Solved!!!!!!!!!

the bendix of the starter was bad.. and the pinion of the starter was scratchin' the flywheel.. so there was the knocking sound...
