My relay switch on my auto headlight control went bad as a result of an electrical problem. Looking for awswers to what may be the cause before I go to the dealer.

Go to the dealer you will be better off! Electrical is nothing to play with could cost more money to fix if you aren't sure what to do.

I had the same problem when I bought my '98 Aurora. It was a flood in perfect condition, except the headlight control module. The DRL's worked, and the Perimiter Lighting feature worked, but the headlights just would not come on with either the stick or the twilight sentinel. The dealer quoted me $450 to have the module replaced, I took it to my mechanic and had it done for $300.

I have the same problem with my '98 aurora. buzzing noise sometimes from the dashboard, yellow bulb in headlights going on and off long after parked, security indicator beeping when I open the door after parking, large local GM dealer says never heard of this problem before!!! ...also quickly diagnosed problem as needing headlamp switch replaced (costs about US$400 for the part alone!)
I'm having trouble believing this is a unique problem. Also, I called a number of wreckers, only to discover that of the half dozen Auroras sitting around in their yards, ALL THE HEADLIGHT SWITCHES HAVE ALREADY BEEN PULLED !!! Wrecker tells me can't be a coincidence, obviously there's a problem with this part.
ANyone had any luck getting GM to confess to the part being defective to begin with?
