Two same models but o ever so differnt

:wink: Hi, i just got my 1934 ford roadster ertil , by amt ,1:25th scale off e bay, i was gonna use it for a doner car, but not too be as i found out the hard way, guess i should come here first, anyway i have 1:25th scale monogram 1934 ford roadster i need parts for, these are world aparts, i the ertil is like real small and much more detail then the mongram which is much larger and not so detail in nature , so i cant even use any parts from the ertil kit , what a bummer , why is there so much differance when both have 1:25th printed on the box, could this be a misprint on eritl-amt part, or? I don't really believe the manufacturers make it a point to be exact in every aspect and some times they end up producing something out of scale or out of proportion due to time, financial, or material constraints. It also depends on who's doing the measuring and how/what they are using (mm/inches) when they are getting them.

1:25 is 1mm:1inch. 1:24 is 1inch:2feet. They are close, but not interchangeable, though manufacturers sometimes mark their box that way. It's seemed to me that the Japanese and European makers have (oddly) stuck to 1:24 pretty consistently, but the American companies go back and forth between the two but like to mark all their boxes as 1:25 no matter what - probably not to scare off the old timers....

You also have to look at it from the manufacturer's point of view. IS this a toy or is this something serious modelers are building? Most of the time it's a toy, so who cares how accurate it is, as long as it's cool looking.
