98 1500 5.7 stuck in 4L ,i can hear and feel it try to shift when commanded but can not make the shift.i have mitchel on demand and some pretty good flow charts so this is what iv got so far
switches test good
tccm tests good
correct power and ground at encoder
flow charts telling me to replace the atcm
removed encoder/motor and tried to shift case manually and its very difficult and i only seem to get two detents
seems like this should be easier to shift
am i way off here?:banghead:
thanks in advance for any help

Is it throwing any codes?
Get out the volt/ohm meter and.
Go with the repair flow charts for that code.
Good luck and let us know hopw it goes.

Always check wiring and fuse and wiring plug-in.
Get out the volt/ohm meter and go all the way threw the repair flow chart for that code.
Good Luck and let us know how it goes

No way of telling without a hands on feel.:shakehead
Kinda hard to do that over the PC boob tube.
How many lbs or ins of torque does it take to move shifter lever?
I would repair it per repair manual flow chart and see what it does.
Good Luck.
