92 Ford Explorer Head Gasket

I have a 92 Explorer. A few days ago I noticed the engine was running hotter than normal, but not over heating. I took it to the mechanic today and they told me it would need a new head gasket to the tune of $1600. I paid $600 for the Explorer 3 months ago off Craigslist. Not wanting to shell out that much money, and not being able to afford it at the holidays I figured I would give Bar's Leaks Head Gasket Fix a shot. I put the stuff in according to the directions and changed the oil. The white smoke has stopped and it is running at a normal temperature. Has anyone else used this with some success? I am seeing good and bad reviews from this product. Thanks.
