Subaru Dome Light Issue

While installing a remote start on a 01 Subaru Outback wagon I accidentally applied 12v to the pink/black wire at the OP connector that is used as the dome light trigger on the remote start.

Before I shorted it the wire had about 4-5 volts, now it has battery voltage. The dome light still works when the rear hatch is opened or when unlocked with the factory remote, but not with the four passenger doors. The door indicators on the instrument panel still work normally.

I have schematics and to me it seems I need a new instrument panel, or "combination meter". I think I blew some diodes and or resistors. I am just looking for some confirmation/ opinions before I buy one.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

This should be moved to the Subaru forum. You're likely to get better answers from people that are familiar with your car rather than a general tech forum.

That being said, my quick guess is that you've blown a relay that connects the door switches to the dome light. Not sure why you'd have only 5V at the dome beforehand and 12V after. Most vehicles stick with 12V for everything, with possible exceptions being the ECU and some sensors, but lighting is usually kept at 12V.

Good luck!
