jimmy540i.com posted a message on this website with, I assume, a link to his website. He also has a post on the following link that will show you the 2004 5-Series. This is the car I referred to in my previous post on the upcoming 5-series.

Again, as I posted before, I love Bimmers; I think that they are the most gorgeous, well engineered cars around. But Chris Bangle's assumption that the BMW look has been "used-up" and needs to go in another direction is wrong. The reason Bimmers have sold like crazy the last year+ and broken previous BMW records is because people love the Bimmer look just the way it is and love what Bimmers stand for. The new Bimmers coming out from under his direction is taking that look and throwing it away, bringing weird, non-BMW designs to the market.

I'm posting a poll again on this topic because now there is a picture of a car to look at. My previous post with a poll only solicited 1 vote. I assume it's because no one knew what the car looked like.

I will be interested in seeing what everyone else thinks of this car. I'm posting it on the general rather than 5-series forum to solicit more of people's votes.

Thanks.

Sorry about the link. I noticed that it didn't work this morning when I was checking up on my poll. I have emailed jimmy540i to see if I can get the image to post it on this site.

Sorry, again.

The drawing looks good on paper but I guess something was lost in the traslation. Looks akward.

Looks like a Sonata headlight.

Looks like a Japanese economy car. Grill is terribly too round for my liking. Chris Bangle, DIE!!

It does look like a Japanese/economy car. Keep in mind, these are the pictures that were in AutoCar magazine and were shown along with an interview with Bangle. That is why I think that it is the new 5-series and not a guess of what it looks like.

What's that about "Japanese economy cars" and the head lights looking like a "Hyundai Sonata"? If you must know, the new Sonata has headlights that look almost like the Merc C-class and as a matter of fact, looks much better than its predecessor.

It's bland and too curvacious (sic). The styling doesn't look European or German. Again, I'll have to see it in silver to really judge it fairly.

Hyundai is Korean BTW and--IMHO--Mercs are generally ugly anyways, so what's the big deal. Of course, the exception is the new SL roadster. Don't even get me started on those headlamps! The Lexus GS has similar headlamps, but it just looks so much better!! And their boot ain't happening either.
