So, I've noticed that the hobby shops and around the net there's been a small expansion of interest in the heavy movers. I personally have only 3 in my stash, and am wanting more. the only thing about it, there's not much in the lines of detail/modification parts for these big rigs. I've only found 3 or 4 sites worth a glance, and was wondering if anyone on here might have a lead on some more sites.

there is some truck modeling only sites out there matter afact i know of several but i cant post them here since i done tried once and a mod pulled it for something(i cant think of what for) so if you want some truck modeling only sites shoot me a pm and ill hit you back with some hint im on a few as well
but in the way of detail parts there is not much out there at all and if you dont mind me asking what truck kits do you have maybe i can tell you whether there are detail parts for those particular kits or not?
which stinks!:banghead:
as for the sites your more than welcome to check out these sites that i can think of-
KFS HOBBIES
AUSLOWE (you may have to google for some of these sites)
STS MODEL TRUCKS(I THINK)
WWW.MODELEXPRESS.NET (http://www.MODELEXPRESS.NET) (i know they have a ton of stuff!)
thats all i can think of right now maybe if i can think of somemore ill let you know

Sounds like a real parts retailer

It is a real auto part site. Looks like SPAM to me.

I have a couple trucks in my stash, and joined a webforum for truck building, but I cant for the life of me remember the forum , and since its a capital offense to post links to other forums, I couldnt post it anyway.

One of the things I want to build is this

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh218/RangerMach1/Models/Dupont%20Hauler/duponthauler15.jpg

Only problem is that to get the correct cab, requires the use of a complete resin cab, and then the entire trailer has to be scratchbuilt.

That's very similar to what I want to build, but I want either Allied Van Lines or Mayflower decorations. Another rig I'd like to build would be a Love's fuel truck or Red Rock Distributing (fuel truck). Something about the orange yellow and red paint schemes on big rigs that gets me excited.

Do you guys do, or have any interest in buses as well? I ask because I drive them (don't model anything -- and for good reason) lol.

That's me:

There was recently a bus kit released, released by Revell of Germany that is similar to a Greyhound style type bus but w/ a European appearance to it. Ive thought about getting one, and converting it to a motorcoach style motorhome.

http://pete389.proboards.com/ is a dedicated truck/heavy machinery modelling forum. You'll have to join to see anything, but I've had a great experience there. I found a lot of support for my current build--'95 Ford Aeromax--and inspiration/ideas from some real scale masters over there.

I'll be checking that one out as soon as I fold the laundry. haha

OnThePike: you might want to look at model rail road sites for city busses. Not many, if any, have been produced for larger scale models. If you do find some, be sure to post them up, I'm sure some of these guys would love to get their hands on some odd ball stuff like that.

Thanks for the links, guys. It's not anything I'm overly obsessed with -- just a passing curiosity as to whether or not you guys also do buses. And only because I drive them :-)

Otherwise... meh... lol

But thanks again just the same!

That's a pretty nice forum. I joined there a couple years ago, and pop in from time to time. I'd actually lost the URL, so thanks for posting it!

Thanks for all the replies. I feel quite fortunate to have such a wealth of knowledge available at a moment's notice.

So I haven't found my decals yet, but I have decided to go with Lee Way on my pain in the Astro 95 and Mayflower with the dark green overall paint job for the Kenworth W900.

As soon as I get some progress worth showing, I'll post a WIP of my truck builds...very soon.

Oh man...be prepared...I started out with one Astro for my local club group build and its become a sickness, I've now got about 6 kits and i'm patiently waiting for the International Lonestar, and Kenworth 123 to be released.

one more place I don't see listed that has a ton of info...
http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/

its all scans or pics but there is plenty of stuff in there to keep you busy for a few days researching.

It's a great kit, sure, but ugly...but I like the non-aerodynamic boxes of the 60s-80s.

about the buying of other kits and it being a sickness...I totally agree. Right now I'm debating as to weather I should open the ORIGINAL ISSUE of the AMT Tandem Vans kit I just got in the mail off ebay. I thought this was the re-issue, but no, there's a pricetag on the side that says $7.99 and furthermore there's no UPC codes or any legal B.S. anywhere on the box AND it's still nicely wrapped in the original plastic, though the box is slightly warped from the shrinking plastic/shelf abuse, it's otherwise perfect, and I got it for $55 shipped.

So should I go ahead and open it and build a first run, no flash kit, or buy a re-pop?

I am going to buy new trucks for my deck because my current ones really suck. I've been thinking Destructo or Tensor. If anone can help maybe tell me which ones are better or the name of a new brand that I should get.

Italeri is really nice stuff but its getting a rather tad expesive now adays! and they and revell often if you look close enough rebox each others stuff!

amt- if you can find some of the older stuff at a reasonable price than go for it unless you like cleaning up alot of parts out of the new re-re-reissues where they just popped the kits out without cleaning up the molds!:headshake

revell/monogram they dont have much but what they do have is great just watch out for the tires in the snap pete 359 kit and i dont know but i think they use the same ones in the kw w900 kit as well!:eek7:

now from what i have seen on the lonestar kit! GET AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

AND GIVE ME ONE!:lol::lol::lol:
