Hi I am looking for someone who has put these alarms in before the instruction manual is not very good. One step says locate the vehicle's neutral safety circuit. This wire registers (-) voltage when the vehicle gear selector is in park or neutral. What is this symbol (-) mean no voltage. Then is says you may need to use a toggle switch. Thanks Dave

Welcome to the forum.
That terminology is not that uncommon. Technically they are just saying the circuit should go to chassis ground (rather than an actual negative potential with respect to chassis ground like it might appear) when the vehicle is in park or neutral.
What's the context of the toggle switch? It sounds like you're installing a remote start system rather than just an alarm. Is the manual suggesting that for testing purposes you might use a toggle switch on this line, or is it maybe referring to the valet input/remote start override? Remote start systems also use a hood pin switch to kill the engine if the hood is opened. Some manuals suggest using a toggle switch for this input during the checkout phase so you don't need to keep opening and closing the hood.

Thanks for replying Rod this vehicle's trans range sensor never goes to ground so I am not sure what to do. I dont see installing a toggle switch and leaving it what if was left in gear and toggle was left on. Not sure what to try have just been looking over before I start installing it. This range sensor just sends resistances to pcm, allows to crank in park and neutral, reverse lights. What are your thoughts. Thanks Dave
