They also carried small cardboard signs reading: "Sheriff's traffic sting in progress. Buckle up."

But they were warned............;)

Better pic here. You'd have to be a retard to NOT slow down.

Anyway, IMHO if you're breaking the law you deserve what you get no matter how the catch you.

yeah, but i bet that if you dont slam the hell on your brakes as soon as the light turns yellow, that you're breaking the law to them.

Actually, according to the law and the Utah driver's education system, you are supposed to watch for "stale greens" or lights that have been green for a long time, and let off the accellerator in anticipation that the light might turn yellow. Technically it is illegal to enter the intersection on yellow, so they're actually letting us get away with a lot on a regular basis.

:finger4: to everyone who enters on red. Bastards.

Quick calculation,170 perps @ 83 bucks a pop=about 14 grand revenue, more or less. That should be enough to pay for a pole camera, providing 24 hour access to exactly the same information without the need for the silly theatricals.A single uniformed patrolman on duty could have prevented 99% of those offences, but it looks like they'd rather devise an elaborate sting, and let 170 offences be committed in order to prosecute, rather than prevent, bad driving.
