Popping Driver Side Wheel In Reverse

1998 Intrigue - 158,000 miles. today I put the car in reverse to back out of the driveway and turing the wheel to the right in reverse, I heard and felt a pop in the driver side wheel, I continued the reverse without any throttle and the popping and binding stopped the car. I gave it a little gas and the wheel popped again but began rolling. Put the car in drive..........smooth and quite. I was told 60,000 miles ago the struts were shot and just put new brakes and rotors on 3,000 miles ago. Should I start with replacing the HUBs, then CV's and on......until I've rebuilt the entire front end? :runaround:

just put new brakes and rotors on 3,000 miles ago.

Check out your caliper mounting bolts, one of them might have come loose, particularly the front one since it only happens in reverse. Just check out the brakes in general.

I had a similar issue after swapping to the 12 inch rotors, I didnt get the caliper mounting bracket bolts tight enough...but you shouldnt have had to dig that deep into the brakes if you just did pads and rotors.

probably your strut mount bearing/plates. get them replaced along with your struts. not a big safety issue but it will get louder. they are designed to twist with the steering but they get worn and 'caught up' causing clicking/popping especially the first turn in reverse...
